Sophie gained an interest in textiles during High School, but it’s in recent years that it’s taken on a life of its own, with Sophie now running her own stall – Sopha Bear – at the Kangaroo Flat Handmade Market.
“I went to have a look at the Market in 2020 and I wanted to have a go at it,” Sophie said. “My parents come in to help me set it up and pull it down, and my partner Mark comes and supports me. I love him.”
Sophie makes a range of items, from face masks to scrunchies and drawstring bags, but her favourite to make is the beautiful Teddy Bears. Her goal is to save enough to purchase her own car.
The Kangaroo Flat Handmade Market runs the 1st Saturday of the month at Rotary Park, Kangaroo Flat – Across from the Apco. Be sure to drop by and see Sophie’s wares if you can!
